Welcome to The Lone Hornet.
Here you’ll find despatches from the fringes of the fanbase, somewhere north of the Watford Gap. I’ll be putting a long-distance lens on events at WD18, granting you the perspective from a metaphorical and geographical row Z.
I’m here to give voice to the isolated horns out there, those luckless souls in perpetual lockdown from the Vic, who could hardly ever get to see an actual match even in pre-2020 times, whether for financial, geographical or health reasons, but who nevertheless hold the club dear in their hearts and want to be part of the conversation.
And I’m here to represent all those lone horns who head to the Vic, or some away enclosure, alone on a matchday, amongst whose number I have often counted myself. We are the lone horns who share the matchday experience with the masses, on our own.
You may ask if we really need another blog about Watford Football Club. I’ll let you be the judge.
